Johnson’s Russia List

IERES is pleased to welcome Johnson’s Russia List (JRL) to its growing list of sponsored programs. JRL is a well-known, internet-based newsletter of daily news, analysis, and opinion about Russia from sources both within and outside the country. JRL has been compiled by David Johnson since 1996. JRL is considered a “must read” source for thousands of students, teachers, scholars, activists, community leaders, government officials, and top-tier journalists. JRL is also distributed widely in Russia and other post-Soviet Eurasian states among citizens, experts, and leaders who have found it a vital resource, both for gaining a sense of how Russia is perceived abroad as well as an understanding of what is happening inside their own country.

To sign up for the daily newsletter, send your email address to: Many news items included in JRL’s daily newsletter are also available on the web at, as well as Twitter and Facebook.

JRL currently receives support from the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, Carnegie Corporation of New York, and individual gifts.
