Assessing the War in Ukraine

The National Churchill Leadership Center and the Institute for European, Russian and Eurasian Studies at George Washington University is convening a panel of GW experts in international affairs to provide a deeper understanding of the crisis in Ukraine.

Speakers:

Henry Hale is Professor of Political Science and International Affairs and Co-Director of the Program on New Approaches to Research and Security in Eurasia (PONARS Eurasia).

Hope M. Harrison is Professor of History and International Affairs. She is an expert on Germany, Russia, the Cold War, the Berlin Wall, and the politics and culture of memory.

Marlene Laruelle is Research Professor of International Affairs and Director of the Institute for European, Russian, and Eurasian Studies (IERES). She works on the rise of populist and illiberal movements in post-Soviet Eurasia, Europe, and the United States.

Robert Orttung is Research Professor of International Affairs and the Director of Research for Sustainable GW. He is editor of Demokratizatsiya: The Journal of Post-Soviet Demokratization and co-editor of the Russian Analytical Digest.

David Szakonyi is Assistant Professor of Political Science who focuses on corruption, clientelism, and political economy in Russia, Western Europe, and the United States.

Sharon Wolchik is Professor of Political Science and International Affairs and is an expertise on Central and East European politics and policy making and comparative politics of Central/Eastern Europe.
